Content Page Experiment Evaluation

I have completed my first attempt at making a content page for a magazine. I did this by finding an example content page online and recreating this using Photoshop.

My Contents Page Attempt

In order to gain some more practice at making pieces of work on Photoshop, I was given the task of making a content page based on a real Marie Claire content page. To start with, I took a photo of my classmate in a similar location and pose to the original photo. I then added this photo into Photoshop and cropped it to the size it needed to be. After this, I spent a large amount of time writing up the text and composing the page together so that it looks as similar to the original as possible. I made sure to keep the fonts and typography size as close to the original as possible as well as keeping the sizes the same for each type of text on the page to ensure uniformity. I also made sure to keep the font colours the same by using colour swatches.

The step that I found easiest was creating all of the text on the content page, this is because I found it very easy to create the uniformity needed as well as adapting the font size, colour, width, spacing and style to make sure that all of the text was able to fit on the page. However, what I did find difficult to do was composing the whole page together in a way that replicates the original content page. Because I did not have the exact font types and image crop it was a struggle to make the composition of the page the exact same as the original image. I had to change my composition frequently throughout the process in order to make everything fit on the page and in an order that replicates the original content page. To make this easier when I am creating my own content page, I will plan the composition of my page before I make it to make sure that everything I want to add to the page will be able to be added without problems concerning the placement.
